Challenges in Acquiring Clinical Simultaneous SPECT-MRI on a PET-MRI Scanner

چکیده
The INSERT is the world’s first clinical SPECT-MRI brain imaging system based on scintillation detectors with a silicon photomultiplier readout. Here, we demonstrate its use within MRI environment for time. Using standard transmit-receive head coil, and an appropriate selection of custom sequence (GRE), overcome mutual interference. bulky 50kg tungsten collimator introduce magnetic field inhomogeneity. Due to specific MRI-compatible design, inhomogeneity compensated by shimming, leading simultaneous acquisition. We process SPECT data acquired alongside evaluate performance impact MRI. Finally, present set acquisitions, demonstrating multimodal capabilities, albeit limited sequence.

Solving RF Interference for a Simultaneous PET/MRI Scanner
Carbon fiber tubing is found to be excellent shielding against 300 MHz radiofrequency (RF) interference for the PET insert that is currently being developed for a 7T preclinical MRI system. Electrically grounding the PET detector module to the inner carbon fiber tube housing reduces low frequency RF noise. Adding thin copper (Cu) foil on the outer carbon fiber case while electrically grounding ...
متن کاملInitial results of simultaneous PET/MRI experiments with an MRI-compatible silicon photomultiplier PET scanner.
UNLABELLED The most investigated semiconductor photosensor for MRI-compatible PET detectors is the avalanche photodiode (APD). However, the silicon photomultiplier (SiPM), also called the Geiger-mode APD, is gaining attention in the development of the next generation of PET/MRI systems because the SiPM has much better performance than the APD. We have developed an MRI-compatible PET system base...

UNLABELLED Noninvasive methods are needed to explore the heterogeneous tumor microenvironment and its modulation by therapy. Hybrid PET/MRI systems are being developed for small-animal and clinical use. The advantage of these integrated systems depends on their ability to provide MR images that are spatially coincident with simultaneously acquired PET images, allowing combined functional MRI an...
متن کاملDevelopment of clinical simultaneous SPECT/MRI.
There is increasing clinical use of combined positron emission tomography and MRI, but to date there has been no clinical system developed capable of simultaneous single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and MRI. There has been development of preclinical systems, but there are several challenges faced by researchers who are developing a clinical prototype including the need for the sy...
متن کاملSimultaneous hyperpolarized (13)C-pyruvate MRI and (18)F-FDG-PET in cancer (hyperPET): feasibility of a new imaging concept using a clinical PET/MRI scanner.
In this paper we demonstrate, for the first time, the feasibility of a new imaging concept - combined hyperpolarized (13)C-pyruvate magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) and (18)F-FDG-PET imaging. This procedure was performed in a clinical PET/MRI scanner with a canine cancer patient. We have named this concept hyper PET. Intravenous injection of the hyperpolarized (13)C-pyruvate resu...
